Houston High Rise Properties

Looking for high rise properties in Houston? At Heritage Texas Properties, we will provide you with a variety of information about high rise real estate throughout this area.

The first Houston high-rise located in fashionable Downtown was The Beaconsfield. Built in 1911 with great attention to detail, it was an eight-story luxury apartment building with interior mahogany wainscoting and exposed beam ceilings. Amenities included iceboxes that would hold 600 pounds of ice and a fireplace in each home.

In 1974, two new buildings came on the market, the St. James and The Woodway. After a slow start, both buildings sold out. By the early 1980s, the construction of a new highrise building, The Greenway, was announced and sold out within weeks. Due to its unprecedented success, many developers announced plans to build additional new high-rise buildings, which included The Huntingdon, Bayou Bend Towers, The Four Leaf Towers, Warwick Towers, The Houstonian, 5000 Montrose, The Spires, Lamar Towers, Inwood Manor, The Willowick, and The Tealstone. Among more recent additions to the highrise market are The Metropolis, The Gotham, The Renoir, the elegant Villa d'Este and its sister, The Montebello.

Recent demand has added many new residential buildings to the Houston skyline with even more on the horizon. Today, Houston offers a very wide variety of high-rise, midrise, and loft choices.

Downtown offers loft residences for purchase and for lease, within walking distance to office buildings, the Convention Center, the Theatre District, and Minute Maid Park. Several developers have restored or are converting older, historic buildings such as the Bayou Lofts, Franklin Lofts, Kirby Lofts, Commerce Towers and Capitol Lofts Downtown, while others are building new projects like The Stanford or converting older buildings like the Live Oak Lofts on the popular East Side, an area formerly occupied by warehouses.

Further uptown, in the Galleria and Greenway Plaza areas, there are several traditional high-rise buildings and an abundance of newer buildings recently completed or going up. The well-known Medical Center provides a choice of several highrise homes with close proximity to the area hospitals and museums, and elegant buildings in River Oaks and near Memorial Park offer large living spaces and wonderful terraces with spectacular views.

Prices are diverse, contingent upon views, location, and the age of the building. A newcomer may find an attractive residence available in a traditional older building or select a contemporary loft-style home located adjacent to River Oaks or the Museum District. One bedroom to penthouse homes, ranging in size from approximately 700 to over 7,000 square feet may be found in various locations throughout the city.

Needless to say, high-rises and lofts today offer an abundant selection of lifestyle options. The simplicity of high-rise and loft living remains a favorite choice for singles, empty nesters, young professionals, and traveling families and executives searching for the security, low-maintenance, and uncomplicated existence that high-rise and loft living offers.
